The Organs

Categories:

St. Francis de Sales main sanctuary is home to two organs. One is a 1998 3 Manual Allen digital organ, the other is a 1968 9 rank Pels & Van Leeuen mechanical action Pipe organ.

The Pels is a great instrument for accompanying chant, accompanying choir, and functioning as a continuo organ. It also has enough resources to accompany small congregations.

Hymnfest 2011 - The Choirs

Categories:

The combined choirs of Harderwyk Ministries and St. Francis de Sales Church will number more that fifty singers for this event. Besides their separate preparation, the St. Francis folks will journey to Harderwyk for a combined rehearsal on May 11th, and the Harderwyk choir will come to St. Francis for their second combined rehearsal on May 19th.  On the day of the festival that choirs will meet together for the third time to warm up and tune up one hour before the festival begins.

The People's Song

Categories:

Hymns are the song of the people—the persons in the pew, the congregation that assembles. While choirs always join in the hymn singing, and often perform a leadership role—as well as providing musical enrichments to the hymn singing, hymns are ultimately the song of everyone gathered.—the entire community.
