Music has a way to help people connect the celebration of the liturgy with their own life of faith. Here at St. Francis, we aim to be a community that sings the liturgy vigorously, and that has singers and instrumentalists who lead us with a joy and confidence. Vatican II set out a new agenda for liturgical musicians in its insistence on the active participation of the entire assembly in the singing of the liturgy. The importance of music for parish liturgical celebrations points to the pastoral role of liturgical musicians.
