A few years ago, I came across an article that resonated with me. It emphasized the idea that each one of us is called to be like a monstrance with legs—a vessel that carries the Eucharist and takes Jesus out into the world. This powerful image reminds us that our faith is not confined to the walls of the church but extends into every aspect of our lives. We are called to live in such a way that others can encounter Christ through our words, actions, and interactions.
This past Sunday, St. Francis de Sales Parish joyfully celebrated the Feast of Corpus Christi, a profound occasion that invites us to honor the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. As part of our celebration, our parish embarked on a Eucharistic procession as one community, taking our call to share Jesus very literally by processing with the consecrated host around our parish neighborhood. It was a beautiful sign of unity and a vivid expression of our mission.
"In the most blessed sacrament of the Eucharist 'the body and blood, together with the soul and divinity, of our Lord Jesus Christ and, therefore, the whole Christ is truly, really, and substantially contained.'" (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1374)
Understanding the true presence of Jesus in the Eucharist is not only essential but transformative for us as a Catholic community. The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches us that in the Eucharist, we encounter the complete reality of Christ—His body, blood, soul, and divinity. This profound belief deepens our faith, fostering a sense of awe, reverence, and gratitude as we approach the sacrament. It unites us as the mystical body of Christ, calling us to live in communion with one another and radiate His love and presence to the world. Embracing the true presence of Jesus in the Eucharist nourishes our souls, strengthens our relationship with Him, and empowers us to be His living vessels, sharing His transformative grace with all those around us.
The Eucharistic procession we celebrated on Sunday was a testament to the dedication and beauty of our faith community in living out our mission to grow passionate disciples of Jesus. It was a tangible demonstration of our commitment to deepening our understanding of the Eucharist as we begin our year long diocesan Eucharistic Revival. This revival calls us to rekindle our love for the Eucharist and actively share this love with others, drawing them closer to the heart of Christ.
At St. Francis de Sales Parish, our mission is to grow passionate disciples of Jesus. The Feast of Corpus Christi and the Eucharistic procession serve as powerful reminders of this mission. As we carry Jesus within us and take Him into the world, may we deepen our knowledge of Him, cultivate a love for Him that overflows to others, and actively seek to serve Him in our daily lives. Together, let us be a living monstrance, radiating His love and presence to all those we encounter.

Abrazar la Fiesta de Corpus Christi: llevar a Jesús al Mundo
Hace unos años, me encontré con un artículo que resonó conmigo. Hizo hincapié en la idea de que cada uno de nosotros está llamado a ser como una custodia con pies, un recipiente que lleva la Eucaristía y lleva a Jesús al mundo. Esta poderosa imagen nos recuerda que nuestra fe no se limita a las paredes de la iglesia sino que se extiende a todos los aspectos de nuestras vidas. Estamos llamados a vivir de tal manera que otros puedan encontrar a Cristo a través de nuestras palabras, acciones e interacciones.
El pasado domingo, la Parroquia San Francisco de Sales celebró con alegría la Fiesta de Corpus Christi, una profunda ocasión que nos invita a honrar la presencia real de Jesús en la Eucaristía. Como parte de nuestra celebración, nuestra parroquia se embarcó en una procesión eucarística como una comunidad, tomando nuestro llamado a compartir a Jesús muy literalmente al desfilar con la hostia consagrada alrededor de nuestro vecindario parroquial. Fue un hermoso signo de unidad y una viva expresión de nuestra misión.
"En el Santísimo Sacramento de la Eucaristía 'el Cuerpo y la Sangre, junto con el alma y la divinidad, de nuestro Señor Jesucristo y, por lo tanto, todo Cristo está verdadera, real y sustancialmente contenido'". (Catecismo de los Católicos Iglesia, 1374)
Comprender la verdadera presencia de Jesús en la Eucaristía no solo es esencial sino transformador para nosotros como comunidad Católica. El Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica nos enseña que en la Eucaristía encontramos la realidad completa de Cristo: Su cuerpo, sangre, alma y divinidad. Esta profunda creencia profundiza nuestra fe, fomentando un sentido de asombro, reverencia y gratitud a medida que nos acercamos a la Santa Cena. Nos une como el cuerpo místico de Cristo, llamándonos a vivir en comunión unos con otros e irradiar su amor y presencia al mundo. Abrazar la verdadera presencia de Jesús en la Eucaristía nutre nuestras almas, fortalece nuestra relación con Él y nos empodera para ser sus vasos vivientes, compartiendo su gracia transformadora con todos los que nos rodean.
La procesión eucarística que celebramos el domingo fue un testimonio de la dedicación y la belleza de nuestra comunidad de fe al vivir nuestra misión de hacer discípulos apasionados de Jesús. Fue una demostración tangible de nuestro compromiso de profundizar nuestra comprensión de la Eucaristía a medida que comenzamos nuestro avivamiento eucarístico diocesano de un año. Este avivamiento nos llama a reavivar nuestro amor por la Eucaristía ya compartir activamente este amor con los demás, acercándolos al corazón de Cristo.
En la Parroquia St. Francis de Sales, nuestra misión es hacer crecer discípulos apasionados de Jesús. La fiesta del Corpus Christi y la procesión eucarística sirven como poderosos recordatorios de esta misión. Mientras llevamos a Jesús dentro de nosotros y lo llevamos al mundo, que profundicemos nuestro conocimiento de Él, cultivemos un amor por Él que se desborde hacia los demás y busquemos activamente servirlo en nuestra vida diaria. Juntos, seamos una custodia viviente, irradiando Su amor y presencia a todos los que encontramos.
