What's Our Strategy in a Post-Christian Nation?

You Decide in this Student Discussion Series on Controversial Best-Seller "The Benedict Option"

Students are invited to another summer book discussion series at St. Francis de Sales! On four Wednesday evenings, Tom Eggleston, Dr. Joseph LaPorte, and Len Bareman are hosting a series of discussions on an intriguing book: Rod Dreher's "The Benedict Option", published early in 2017. The book's thesis has created a lot of discussion in the Christian community since publication, and we hope to continue that this summer.

We will meet at St. Francis from 7-8:30 p.m. on the following dates:

  • June 27: General intro, reading several excerpts, reading some pro and con reviews, general discussion
  • July 11: Two speakers (one pro, one con, both short, allowing plenty of time for Q&A and response)
  • July 18: Two speakers (one pro, one con, both short, allowing plenty of time for Q&A and response)
  • July 25: Student-led conclusions (I expect we won't all agree, and that's definitely OK)

A free book is available for everyone who commits to joining us for at least the first week. Then two weeks between the first and second meetings will allow time to read the book before the debates begin. I really hope for some lively evenings!

RSVP by emailing povertyhill@gmail.com, then join us for each of these meetings. Your presence and participation will improve our discussions!
